Hey everyone - It’s Andrea Naomi, and I’m back with another quick AI update. It’s the weekend, so let’s keep this one short, sweet, and fun. Here’s what’s new in AI, what we’ve been working on with SoS, and some exciting news about Slack!

🧠 The State of AI Report 2024: Key Takeaways

This week, I came across the State of AI Report 2024 by Air Street Capital. If you’re into AI trends, it’s a great read (and there’s a 15-minute video summary too!). Here are the three main takeaways:

LLMs Are All Operating at Similar Benchmarks

Large Language Models (LLMs) are performing neck and neck based on standard benchmarks, making the competition between them less significant. However, OpenAI’s new model, dubbed “Strawberry 01,” slightly edges ahead thanks to its advanced reasoning capabilities. The name might not be catchy, but it’s a promising step forward!

Shrinking Models Without Impacting Performance

Another key takeaway is the ability to shrink models with minimal impact on performance. This is evident in Google's Gemini 1.5 Flash. Essentially, this means smaller models can still be highly efficient if trained properly, and this is great news for us at Save Our Startup (SoS)! We’re building smaller, well-trained custom GPTs tailored to solve startup-specific problems effectively.

Prediction: Building Apps Without Coding Skills

One interesting prediction from the report is that someone without any coding experience will soon use AI to create an app that ranks in the top 100. So, if you’ve got an idea and a bit of creativity, you could be that person!

If you want to dive deeper into these insights, you can read the full report here.

🏢 Slack’s Digital HQ & the Future of AI Agents

Tigz and I were working on a carousel design this weekend, and while pulling an icon for Slack, I had a moment of realization: Salesforce acquired Slack for $27 billion! (I know, right?) This led me to dig deeper into why this acquisition makes so much sense in the context of their latest AI developments.

According to the CEO of Salesforce, the acquisition aimed to create a “Digital HQ”—a centralized platform for employees and customers to connect and succeed from anywhere. With AI agents now being integrated into Slack, this vision is becoming a reality. Here’s why it matters:

Slack Is Sticky: People are using Slack all day long for work, which makes it the perfect platform to introduce AI integrations and agents.

AI-Powered Workflows: Slack has introduced new AI features that can summarize conversations and automate processes. This positions Slack to become the “Zapier of AI Agents,” where all your work data and third-party tools seamlessly connect.

Salesforce’s Vision: As the CEO of Salesforce said, together, they’re defining the future of enterprise software.

🚀 The Power of Custom GPTs & the SoS Operating System

At SoS, we’ve been spending time refining our custom GPTs and developing a complete operating system. The goal is simple: to make our GPTs better trained and more efficient at solving specific startup challenges. We’re talking about micro-functions, parameters, and an entire system to map out your journey from A to B.

As the State of AI report mentioned, smaller, well-trained models can be more effective, and this is the direction we’re heading. If you’re on the waitlist for SoS, stay tuned because big things are coming! And if you haven’t signed up yet, make sure to visit saveourstartup.co.uk and join the waitlist.

That’s all for this weekend! I hope you enjoyed this newsletter and the nerdy AI insights. If you have any thoughts or questions, just drop a reply. And if you’re ready to leverage AI for your startup, let’s get to work!

Until next time,

Andrea Naomi
