In case you didn’t know, like maybe you’ve been on vacay chatGPT flipped the marketing world 🌎 upside down when it opened to the general public some weeks ago.
BUT most of the world is still aloof to the changes that are taking place right under our noses.
This conversational AI model will solve a lot of the everyday minutia tasks that many entrepreneurs and online marketers face but it also opens a world of opportunities for those paying attention to AI.
One of the biggest fundamental opportunities I’m seeing right now is the ability to turn 10-person creative teams into a one-person show but that’s the smaller picture.
The wider opportunity will be in operators. People or SaaS that can create solutions or streamline processes. Meaning the once singular focused app may now integrate with different models to solve inherent problems their users face.
Canva’s smart writer and docs is a great example of how AI can be used to solve existing content problems. You can watch the video explaining this concept below
Don’t get lost in a labyrinth of AI Apps
So… I’m a creative analytic aka entrepreneur with an accounting degree; an actuary’s worst nightmare. I’ve been told that on occasion. But I’m in a unique position that allows me to share why pretty apps aren’t always the answer.
I'm actually a huge fan of pretty software in fact I have a domain called so pretty software I love software that just— does pretty things. UI is so important to me, in fact I spend a lot of time testing apps for one of the startup teams I'm involved in.
I test these apps to ensure they're vetted and ready to share with our audience. The interesting thing about apps in general is that when you find yourself in a specific niche you also find that a lot of these apps are using the same types of technology.
For example, most of the AI writing apps are writing tools which use a GPT-3 right which is basically the API or the technology that allows them to render the content.
So pretty much every AI writing tool on Appsumo right now
The only difference you're really experiencing is the user interface which is huge but does it really warrant a bigger price tag just because the interface is prettier? Not always.
What you're looking for at this stage in the game is the technology’s ability to solve friction.
Canva is a really good example of third-party apps that are not necessarily neural networks but they actually do solve problems for your content flow which is what you're looking for. The other bigger opportunity is in the area of being the operator yourself —in this scenario you as the operator can use base technology like midjourney or chatGPT, learn the syntax at this point right now there's a huge opportunity for startups or content teams to increase their content velocity.
There’s also an opportunity for people entering into the job market to surpass a lot of their other counterparts by capitalizing on the idea of being an operator.
An operator is someone who understands how to use a machine— in the business world operators are known to get things done. In the AI content marketing world that we're living in today the average person can become an operator.
There's always going to be Luddites in the world of tech - they’ll says things like:
don't copy and paste there's going to be watermarks it’s not worth exploring
you can't reuse AI content it won’t rank
If you’re residing on that side of the fence here’s your chance to rethink your position. There are smart ways to use AI in your content systems so that you're not just copying and pasting what the neural network spits out.
No one will have the exact same stream of consciousness as you. Meaning, there are quantum possibilities for a given scenario. I think many people are worried about watermarks or penalties instead of the opportunity to create. Don’t miss the opportunity to create!
No dumb questions about chatGPT
The reason I'm writing this entire post is because I know that many of you are sitting on the fence thinking
oh this is not something that I really need to care about AI is not in the position where I should be concerned about losing my job or rethinking my agency etc…
If you're sitting on the sidelines now is the time to actually get your hands dirty. Do not rely on someone to tell you the state of AI technology go and create an open AI account and try chatGPT for yourself, there are no dumb questions in the past 10 days I've essentially used chat GPT to
Create an entire content library for one of my products
I've also written 60 newsletters
Generated over 200 post ideas for other websites
I've done a bunch of things just playing around which had GPT and I'm going to tell you right now it's very impressive— but you need to try it for yourself you so you can begin to see the possibilities.
Once you open that account and try it for yourself come back and let me know what questions you have so we can explore this new world together.
